Tustin, CA, United States (4E) - General Motors finally unveiled the newest eighth generation of the Corvette in Tustin, California. Experts believe this is the model that represents the biggest change for this car since it was introduced in the 1950s.

According to a Motor 1 Thursday report, the new 2020 Corvette Stingray has its engine behind the seats, which is a change that radically alters the vehicle's appearance and the way it feels to drive it. After all, the Corvette has always been a front-engined, rear-wheel-drive sports car.

During the Thursday presentation, General Motors president Mark Reuss said "In terms of comfort and fun, it still looks and feels like a Corvette, but drives better than any vehicle in Corvette history."

The base version of this new car will have an eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters and a 495-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 engine.

During the presentation, General Motors announced that the prices for the Corvette Stingray will start at just under $60,000.

Analysts believe this is a surprising price since many thought it would be much more costly considering the massive engineering work that the new car received.
