2020 Masters golf tournament postponed until November

The 2020 US Masters golf tournament has been rescheduled to take place in November, the latest sporting event postponement as a result of the on-going coronavirus outbreak.

The tournament which was originally planned to take place for a week starting April five has been moved on November 9-15, according to NBC sports, rescheduling it on the same weekend as NFL and college football games and possible the MLB, depending on how it gets reschedules according to the season.

Chairman of the Augusta National Golf Club Fred Ridley released a statement indicating that, “In collaboration with the leading organizations in golf, Augusta National Golf Club has identified November 9-15 as the intended dates to host the 2020 Masters.”

“Along the way, we hope the anticipation of staging the Masters Tournament in the fall brings a moment of joy to the Augusta community and all those who love the sport.” Riley indicated further.

The pandemic COVID-19 has already affected three biggest golf tournaments, including the cancellation of British Open that was supposed to take place on July 13-19, the rescheduling of the US Open from June 15-21 to September 14-20 and the postponement of the PGA Championship on May 11-17 being moved to August 3-9.
